Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Austin Chapter Annual Banquet 2008
The CCA Austin Chapter Annual Banquet was held on May 15, 2008 at the Palmer Events Center. As promised, it was a big event with many auction and raffle items, and what seemed a sea of people (I crack myself up.) There were two big raffle prizes: a 2008 18’ Shallow Sport Sprint boat, motor and trailer; and a tricked out 1985 K-5 Chevy Blazer with Surf Rig.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Expo 2007 Photo Journal
As I toured the booths and events this year, it struck me that Expo XVI serves the role of educating outdoor enthusiasts about the diversity of Texas; much like SeaWorld educates visitors about marine life.

Ninth Annual Texas Deer Association Convention & Trade Show
The TDA is the only non-profit organization solely committed to improving the quality of Texas deer herds through improved habitat practices, modern harvest strategies and use of superior deer to enhance the deer herds. The TDA also hosts an annual convention and trade show every August featuring fund-raising auctions, a deer auction, golf tournament and other events.
Texas 4-H State Championship: Shotgun Shooting Sports (2007)
Each year several hundred children and young adults, with their supportive families cheering them on, gather in the dripping summer heat. Their singular goal is to compete against their peers for highest score at Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays, International Skeet, and International Trap. The estimated headcount this year was almost 700 youth shooters, and since we handed out 500 TexasHuntFish.com shooting towels and many people stopped me asking if there were more towels, 700 sounds about right.
Virtual Tour of the 2007 Texas Trophy Hunters Extravaganza HOUSTON
The TexasHuntFish.com Team is walking the floor meeting the various business owners and listening to the variety of products and services they are offering to Texas Outdoor Enthusiasts. We really want to capture the experience of being at the Houston Extravaganza for those who couldn't make it. We are not trying to write a story, rather, we will let the photographs tell the story. Thank you TTHA for making this possible.
Texas Wildlife Association 2007 Annual Banquet
It is very difficult to capture the "feel" of an event like this in words. The next best thing we decided was to try to atleast photo-document some of the people attending, the sponsors at their booths, and take a moment to enter a description of each photo. The bottom line is simple: TWA puts on a great show and a great party. They do a wonderful job producing an educational, informative event while keeping it fun for spouses and children.
Boone & Crockett 26th Big Game Awards (2004-2006 Entries)
Cut short by a very special family reunion that I couldn’t miss, I made a 400 mile detour to attend Boone and Crockett Club’s 26th Big Game Awards Program Banquet at Cabela’s Fort Worth, Texas. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN ANNUAL EVENT. It happens every three years and just happened to be in Texas t...
2nd Annual Spring Turkey Hunt with Live Oak Outfitters & Brett Valdez
Brett Valdez and Live Oak Outfitters invited me to join them for another great Spring Turkey Hunt near Ozona, Texas. The "Live Oak" experience is so unique. You can roam a massive 26,000 acre ranch with all types of wildlife, camp under a canopy of huge Oak trees on the banks of a creek, enjoy a gentle breeze that keeps most of the bugs away, sit around a nice fire and cook over the coals like the old days.
Dos Plumas Ranch "The Working Man's Ranch"
...Over the next months I was asked by several people about a place that called itself, "The Workings Man's Ranch", located 30 miles West of Abilene, near Trent & Sweetwater, TX. When I looked them up on the internet, I saw their name was Dos Plumas Ranch and that made me dig through my business cards until I found Allen's card. Dos Plumas Ranch aka "The Workings Man's Ranch", owned & operated by Allen Williams
National Wild Turkey Federation Banquet, East Texas Chapter
Spring time in Texas! Whether your are a hunter, photographer, or just like the Texas Outdoors, I don't understand why every Turkey Guide and Lease is not 100% booked all season long. Let's put aside the trigger pull for a second, turkey hunting is about being out on a ranch during one of the most...

Texas Youth Hunting Program: Become a HuntMaster
TexasHuntFish.com was invited earlier this year to attend a Texas Parks & Wildlife Youth Hunt at the Sundowner Ranch near Vance, Texas. The Texas Wildlife Association co-organized the event and the ranch owner, Mr. Earl Calkins, provided tremendous support and generosity. Our hope was to capture o...
SCI Austin Awards Banquet
I was hoping to make San Antonio, Houston and Dallas SCI Awards Banquet but we had scheduling conflicts. However, we did make the Austin SCI Awards Banquet. It was neat to see a TexasHuntFish.com member win an award (Congrats Jason Carter). During the auction, there are several hunts that sell way...
Texas Desert Mule Deer Hunt at the Stovall Ranch with AKnockOutGuide Service
8 hours after leaving Austin, driving West by Southwest, I was still in Texas. On US 385 South, 31.8 miles south of Marathon, I turned down a dirt road. The GPS told me it was called, “Dove Mountain Rd.” named after Dove Mountain. 19 miles down the dirt road I started to doubt my directions. 25 miles down the dirt road I found the KO LODGE.
FLW Outdoors Austin Show 2007
Last week my kids and I went to see the FLW Outdoors Austin Show. My four year old called it the "Fishing Circus". We had a good time as you can tell in the photos. They had rock climbing, kid's fishing pool, casting target range, lots of boats and other equipment on display, and other fun family a...

Laguna Madre, Matt Deyo, Fishing Guide & Grand Master Pupa
When it comes to fishing around Laguna Madre, Matt Deyo is one of the best guides you can find. Yes, there are other great guides, but since I went with Matt after months of hearing about his amazing ability to put serious anglers on the fish, this story is about my trip with Matt, Wendell and Jed....
Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch and Pavilion
TDS Exotic Game Ranch & Pavilion I was invited to a skeet shooting event at this facility, where I took a handful of photos to share below. Not only are there a variety of species walking around the facility, but their log cabins and Meeting Hall are beautifully built on a hill top with a view in...
Fishing trip down Devil's River
I have to admit, ever since my canoe trip down the Rio Grande back in 1990 I have been scared to get in a river in spring time, especially in a canoe, especially with someone else who doesn't have much experience. My friend almost died in 1990 as we shot through the "tight squeeze" in Big Bend. I t...

Huntress of the Year
What a morning! On four hours of sleep, after buying a new camera/camcorder and recharging the battery on my 70Watt inverter in my truck; while trying to find this beautiful remote ranch off HWY 83 (near Kerrville) without any food in my belly; I finally made it! Everyone take note: the gate code is 1985. Field Reports by Jason Parrish |
